It's a wonderful 3rd Anniversary for SHINee!

I've been ACHING for a chance to able to write about my favorite male idol group, SHINee! (but I promise to make it as succinct as possible since it isn't an album review hehehe!)  This is the perfect chance too considering they just celebrated their 3rd anniversary since debuting in Korea in May 25, 2008. Ever since 2008, they have churned out hit after hit, and they're not stopping.

On their 3rd year as a group, they're expanding their reach, and they've begun promotions and debuted their song "Replay" in Japan as a digital single. How cool is it that the song that launched them to stardom in Korea would also be used as their stepping stone to conquer Japan, right?

By far, no other male idol group in Korea has rocked my world more than SHINee. They the ultimate package --- they sing great, they dance like there's no tomorrow, and they're known as wonderful hosts and are always a joy to watch on Korean TV (which I get to watch online mostly hehehe!).

Everything started though with a song titled "Noona Nomu Yeppo - Replay" / "Noona You're So Beautiful - Replay" ("noona" is Korean word that's used as a term of endearment for an older sister or a friend, and could also be used for a girl friend who's older). Of course, being as young as they are (back then, Taemin I think was 16, and Onew was 20 or 21), and considering they're as cute as heck, it drove all the girls nuts that they seemed like they were singing to them.

The Japanese release of "Replay" is rather good translation of the song. The boys sound wonderful in Japanese, although you can feel the sense of how much they've grown since they last released the song. They sound more confident, and their voices "rounder" and less pitchy, giving it a more sophisticated feel. I'm especially impressed with Taemin since his singing has improved the most in the group.
