Two new guilty pleasures of your K-drama week --- "You've Fallen For Me" and "I Need Romance"

Two great new dramas to watch! ---
"I Need Romance" and "You've Fallen For Me"

You'll have to forgive my lack of updates for the past week or so. I've been nursing a bad cold, that eventually came back to haunt me as a bad case of cough and asthma. I had to rest up at home yesterday since my chest felt like a brick wall.

Last night wasn't entirely a loss since I was able to catch up on a couple of new dramas that just premiered that I've been dying to watch --- "You've Fallen For Me" and "I Need Romance". It's that time of the year again, and new dramas are always something to look forward to!

I'm sort of sad that a couple of dramas that I've been watching have either ended or are coming to an end, but I've discovered two gems that everyone can look forward to for the next couple of months. Both as romantic comedies, so definitely you'll be in for some nice laughs and some warm fuzzy moments.

"You've Fallen For Me"

This is probably one of the most anticipated dramas of the year since it bring together two of the most popular celebrities of their generation --- Jung Yong Hwa (of CNBLUE) and Park Shin Hye. Both were part of the cast of the immensely popular 2009 drama "You're Beautiful", together with FT Island's Lee Hong Ki. and Jang Geun Seuk.

A lot of the press that I've read online seem to want to compare "You've Fallen For Me" to "Dream High" because of their similarities in context. Both are set in art schools, with characters who are set on pursuing their dreams in the performing arts. Jung Yong Hwa is a college band idol taking up music studies, while Park Shin Hye's character is immersed in traditional Korean music. They're two worlds collide in school, and that's where all the excitement begins!

A big plus for this drama is the fact that they star two members of the one of the most popular bands in Korea, CN BLUE --- Jung Yong Hwa (their lead vocalist) and Kang Min Hyuk (their drummer, who is also one of the band's vocalists). We can expect great music in this drama's soundtrack with these two guys around! Here's a sampling of two songs that just recently got released as part of the drama's soundtrack.

"Star" by Kang Min Hyuk (Audio with Eng Subs)

Here's the synopsis of the drama from DramaAddict.com and a couple of trailers for you to watch:

The Cast of "You've Fallen For Me" --- Park Shin Hye (3rd from L), Jung Yong Hwa (4th from L),
Kang Min Hyuk (3rd from R), Im Se Mi (2nd from R),  Lee Hyeon Jin (rightmost)
Lee Shin is a university student majoring in modern music. He is also the vocalist and guitarist of the band "The Stupid." Shin is known for his good looks and strong passion for music, but in reality he is cold, lacks interest in anything unrelated to music and has neither dreams nor plans for the future. He initially likes Jung Yoon Soo, a dance professor at university, but this all changes when he meets Lee Kyu Won.
Lee Kyu Won is a bright and outgoing student who was born into a prestigious family and is majoring in traditional Korean instruments, especially the gayageum. Kyu Won's grandfather, Lee Dong Gun, is one of the top 3 traditional musicians of his age and his biggest wish is to see his granddaughter become a traditional music prodigy. Trying to live up to her grandfather's expectations, Kyu Won immerses herself in training and becomes a university student who knows nothing outside of her studies. As her friends are fans of "The Stupid", she was forced to go to the band's concert with them. There she saw Lee Shin performing live, and is immediately captivated by him.

"I Need Romance"

What got me looking at this drama was the fact that Kim Jun Hoon, who was part of the cast in "Goong" / "Princess Hours" together with Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon (he was the secondary male lead --- cousin of the crown prince who falls in love with the new crown princess). I personally found him adorable in that drama, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that he's starring in a new one this year.

This time around he joins an ensemble cast together with Jo Yeo Jung, Choi Yeo Jin, Choi Song Hyun, and Choi Jin Hyuk. The premise of the drama centers around the life and love of women in their late 20's and 30's. When I watched the first few episodes, it reminded me so much of Brooke Shield's "Lipstick Jungle". The show is a funny and irreverent. tongue-in-cheek look into love, careers, sex (oh yes... and lots of it!) and life.

The Cast of "I Need Romance" (L to R): Jo Yeo Jung, Kim Jung Hoon,
Choi Jin Hyuk, Choi Yeo Jin, and Choi Song Hyun

What impressed me even more was the visual style of the drama. I loved that while they were shooting, they took pictures and used these pictures to create frozen cut-scenes. It added more drama to certain key points of the story.

This show is simply addictive and I can't get enough of it!
